Transitioning to International Projects: What to expect webinar
This webinar was an introduction on what it is like working on projects outside of the UK and what the main differences are from observation. We discussed dimensions such as communication, team dynamics, and integrating into different cultures. This webinar was held on 2 March 2023.
The session covered an introduction on project management outside of the UK, and what aspects need to be considered.

Hi Conor and Sheilina, Thank you both for the pleasing knowledge share, stories, and tips. I wanted to add that for those considering working in another country the following website I have found helpful. In addition Lonely Planet books by country aid with respect to culture. https://expatnetwork.com/essential-things-to-carry-when-you-travel-abroad-for-a-job/ Further, consider the below checklist. https://expatnetwork.com/moving-abroad-checklist/ I sat my PRINCE2 Foundation Exam at the British Council offices, Dubai. At the Practitioner level, I sat in a group environment at the company's Head Office, UK. For fun learning within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for team building I encouraged staff working within a Department that I led to co-present on a project management topic for five minutes and then allow 5 minutes Q&A. After each presentation, we would then go around the room and seek out the positives. Then the negatives. The next step was then for the subsequent week to present again but in Arabic. I led the first one and determined that persons would have available a printed copy of the presentation - but only at Q&A time to enable focus. I sought always to appoint a person to be a timekeeper to enforce the five-minute rule. The aim was to encourage principles and themes rather than to go into detail. What tumbled out was the growth in the confidence of nationals in the profession of project management. Thanks again Conor and Sheilina for a job well done! Thanks too for APM for hosting. Kind regards Richard
