Steve Maclaren

Chief Operating Officer, National Robotarium

Steve joined the National Robotarium as Chief Operating Officer in April 2022 and is responsible for managing the centre’s complex operations including industry partnerships, engineering and research development contracts, and digital transformation of the core operating systems in the facility.

He was previously employed in the defence sector enjoying a variety of roles that included the senior IT and digital business partner for Leonardo UK, responsible for capturing and enacting all strategic initiatives across the business. As lead within the support and service division of both Leonardo and GE (Avionics), Steve delivered complex technical and logistics contracts in support of UK MOD and international Rotary Wing aircraft, leading a team of engineers, project managers, logisticians, partner companies and a variety of key suppliers in both roles.

Prior to his industry experience, Steve served a full career in the Royal Navy as an aircraft engineering manager looking after large teams of technicians in various roles within the service.
