Andy Murray
Executive Director, Major Projects Association
Andy joined the Major Projects Association after a 30-year career as practitioner and management consultant helping organisations deliver strategic change through Project/Programme Management. He draws on varied experience of working across multiple sectors (public sector/private sector), working with widely differing organisations (SMEs, not-for-profits, NGOs and large corporates) and has lived and worked overseas.
He is a specialist on project governance, the treatment of inherent project complexity and organisational development of project/programme capability. Andy has worked on many of the UK’s largest projects and in both supplier and client side roles.
Andy is a respected author, having worked with HM Treasury, Cabinet Office, the Association for Project Management (APM) and Axelos to develop best practice guidance on their behalf – including the IPA Routemap, P3M3® maturity model, Directing Change, Governance of Co-owned Projects and PRINCE2.
Andy’s role as Executive Director is to work with the Board to develop the strategic plan for the Association and then oversee its delivery. He works with the Programme Committee to shape the events programme and with the Studies Working Group to identify, commission and disseminate studies on behalf of members as well as chairing/facilitation sessions for the Association’s development programmes (Rising Stars and Challenge of Major Projects).
