James has over 20 years’ experience across the Defence, Infrastructure, Built Environment, Transport and Local Government sectors. He has focused on delivery and leadership in highly pressured and visible roles. Over the past 7 years James has led sponsorship functions within the Department for Transport and now within Parliament ensuring clear delivery through arms length bodies on infrastructure and built environment programmes.

He is experienced in assessing and delivering information at all levels, including engaging with Ministers and at board level to define and deliver strategies in complex political environments. He has significant experience providing a robust assurance framework for major programmes to give decision makers and stakeholders confidence in delivery.β€― He is a chartered member of the Association for Project Management and an accredited independent reviewer with the Infrastructure and Projects Authority.β€―

He is currently working as Programme and Assurance Director for the Restoration and Renewal Client Team in the Houses of Parliament planning for the restoration of the Grade 1 listed Palace of Westminster part of the UNESCO World Heritage site. His role is focussed on ensuring the right assurance and programme approach is in place and he is accountable to the political level boards for those areas.
