Building a project business case using the UNSDGs

This interactive session will explore methods to align the strategic case for a project or programme with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and how this can positively impact the business and economic case for a project.

Arun will take delegates through how this can be implemented practically, show business case template examples, and refer to real world examples.

We asked Arun a few questions about their session:

Why do you think this topic is particularly relevant for project professionals?

Project professionals oversee a huge amount of public and private spending. Project spending is forecast to be 45% of GDP in 2025 and in 23/24 was over £1trillion! Figures like this means that even small shifts to more sustainable projects will have a larger than large impact.

What’s one key takeaway attendees will gain from your session?

The factors we most need to incorporate into projects and how to do it! Environmental and Socioeconomic factors.

What challenges would you like to help project professionals overcome from your session?

Project professionals will learn how to build sustainability into their initiatives right from the start, how to do it in a structured and proportionate way that realises benefits and takes advantage of existing mechanisms such as Critical Success Factors (CSFs).
