Karen WhelanKaren Whelan

Karen is an experienced military aviation project manager for BAE Systems and one of the first Chartered Project Professionals (ChPPs). Karen joined the APM Board in 2020.

After qualifying in aeronautical engineering, Karen took up engineering roles with BAE Systems in Advanced Technology and Aerodynamics. Later moves included a period in Strategy and Planning then progression into Project Management when she gained an MBA. Karen has experience working overseas in a French-speaking office environment as well as in the UK for European, American and UK-based customers.

Karen has worked in the bid, delivery and support phases of various aircraft programmes including Hawk, Typhoon and Harrier aircraft.

Karen enjoys flying in her spare time, having recently been awarded a Private Pilot’s Licence.
