From our people

Charlie Pollard

Charlie Pollard – Service Delivery Team Leader

Charlie joined APM in 2014 as a Service Innovation Assistant and now supports the delivery of the Chartered Project Professional Standard as the Chartered Team Leader.

I’ve been at APM for almost a decade now and have seen huge personal and professional growth in myself thanks to the company’s supportive culture. It may sound cliché to say ‘If you don’t ask, you don’t get’ but this was certainly true in my case.

I joined APM fresh out of university as an assistant, excited about the offer of flexible working hours, a competitive salary, and room for ambitious growth within my team. Thanks to APM’s opportunities for professional development and accommodation for my career ambitions, I’ve moved from assistant to advisor, and all the way up to team leader position.

However, none of this would have been possible or desirable if the personnel themselves weren’t as friendly and encompassing as they are at APM. It’s incredibly rare to start a job and feel like you’ve worked there ages within a few weeks, but APM’s welcoming attitude really cultivates that and I can genuinely say that I have made friends for life here. I have no doubt any prospective new starter wouldn’t find the same experience.

From our people

Gerard Lawson

Gerard Lawson – Project Manager

Gerard joined APM in 2023 as a Project Manager and supports the delivery of Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and APM membership acceleration initiatives.

Despite being a fresh face at the company, I can tell that there is no place to work quite like APM. When I reflect on my experience so far, the word freedom keeps coming to mind. Freedom to pursue my professional development, work in a manner that balances my work and home life, and collaborate with my colleagues no matter their seniority.

APM puts the professional development of their colleagues as a top priority. We each have access to a huge variety of professional learning materials that are a great resource to fill any gaps where I may look to expand my skill set. This is alongside the qualifications and APM-hosted networking events that I intend to leverage to upskill myself as much as possible.

The company also takes work-life balance seriously. I go into the office four times every month, allowing me to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of doing the things I love and seeing my colleagues in person. I never feel any apprehension about working from the office as my APM team has always felt like a close-knit community. From the C-suite through to new starters like myself, my team has that intimate ‘small town’ feeling of comradery, everyone is warm and friendly but there’s that professionalism of everyone working to achieve the same goal.
