PRINCE2
Date: 07/07/2008
Event organiser: APM Midlands Branch, Birmingham Chapter
With examinations run in 91 countries last year, PRINCE2 is becoming (has become?) an international standard project management method.
• It’s too bureaucratic! Some say
• If so, why is it so popular?
• So what is it?
• Come along and find out more.
Originally designed primarily for use in the UK public sector, PRINCE2 has grown steadily and in 11 years has achieved worldwide acceptance - in 2007 PRINCE2 exams were held in 91 countries worldwide, including some 70,000 Foundation level and 35,000 Practitioner exams in that year alone. In 2000 the UK Government sponsored McCartney Report recommended its adoption across the UK public sector. Since then the acceptance and use of PRINCE2 by the UN Development Agency marked a significant acknowledgement of its achievements and indication of its future potential.
Fifteen years ago Peter Weaver – The PSO’s managing director suffered a mid-life crisis - at least that’s what his new-found NHS colleagues alleged. He had just left a rewarding career as a project and programme manager in the Royal Air Force Engineering Branch to join the NHS – in what was then the Oxford Region.
After a short time in the NHS he left to form the partnership - Peter Weaver Associates - providing a range of project and programme management training and consultancy support to clients now The Programme Support Office Limited.
“The PSO” continues in its mission to provide project and programme management training and support in the UK and worldwide. It has an impressive client list including many NHS organizations and local authorities.
The event will be held at Royal Bank of Scotland, 8 Brindley Place, Birmingham, B1 2UU at 5.30pm for 6.00pm start.
