APMP

Qualifications frequently asked questions

What is APMP?
APMP is an internationally recognised qualification recognising both your technical project management and leadership skills.  It allows you to participate in a project environment as a specialist or a team member.

APMP (aligned to IPMA Level D) is a knowledge based qualification. Successful candidates are able to participate in projects from individual assignments through to large capital projects. APMP is a qualification recognised both nationally and internationally that successful candidates can carry from one job to another or from one industry to another.

APMP is aimed at project managers and aspiring project managers who wish to demonstrate their knowledge of project management at a foundation level. APMP covers 37 knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge. Knowledge of these areas is considered fundamental to the professional management of projects.

New for 2010
There are two examination routes for the APMP qualification:

-  A three hour paper where candidates must answer ten from sixteen questions covering 37 syllabus topics

Or

-  A two hour paper that recognises prior learning for current PRINCE2® Registered Practitioner. In this paper, candidates must answer six from ten questions covering 25 topics.

Syllabus, candidate guidance notes and a sample paper are available.

*PRINCE2® is a Registered Trade Mark of the Office of Government Commerce in the United Kingdom and other countries.

What is assessed?
APMP assesses the candidate’s breadth of knowledge in all areas of project management, from strategic and commercial implications, to the technical, organisational, and people management skills required to participate effectively within a project team.

This qualification allows candidates to demonstrate knowledge of all elements of project management in order to assist in the management of projects. Candidates with this qualification will be able to demonstrate an understanding of how these elements interact. They will also be able to understand how their project fits into their strategic and commercial environment.
